He has some great memories: “Having fun with my friends and being able to play the sport I love (baseball),” Trevor said, His favorite class is ELA 10. His favorite teacher Is Mrs. Beeler. His favorite subjects are Math and ELA. He hopes to play baseball at the college level and he would like to be a gym teacher. Parents/siblings: David and Julie Holly (parents), Megan Holly (younger sister). “I love to play video games, love to be outside, and love to play baseball,” he said. He has great advice for younger athletes: "Whenever you feel like you are not gonna make it, trust me, believe in yourself and if you work hard enough, things will go in your favor. Work hard in school, put in extra work outside of the classroom and inside of the classroom,” he said. “Enjoy your life and always smile." Trevor’s mom Julie had this to add about her son: “Trevor on his own came to us and decided that he wanted to dedicate his playing while at Disney to celebrate and honor Payton, #playingforpayton. Six year old Payton has Stage 4 Neuroblastoma. She just finished her 7th round of treatment at U of M Motts Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor. She has very important scans and tests coming up that will determine what is next for her regarding her treatment plan. She got very sick after this last round and is still currently inpatient. We are praying for her strength and healing daily. Trevor also on his own came up with the idea to raise money to send Payton and her family to Kalahari. While sending them to Kalahari changes nothing about Payton's battle, it would allow them to have a fabulous adventure making amazing memories together. Trevor wants to surprise Payton before we leave for Disney. WE NEED YOUR HELP! We are asking for monetary donations to help send Payton and her family on this trip and all money collected will go to the family for Kalahari when Payton's treatment schedule allows them to go. No donation amount is too great or small. Every penny collected helps make Trevor's goal a reality for Payton. She and her family deserve this very much. What can YOU do? This is the season of giving. A donation, no matter the amount, is greatly appreciated. Cash, Check, PayPal ([email protected]) or Cash App ($tremeg), are accepted. Thank you for your generosity.”

She loves the pool, the water and the competition. “My accomplishments are getting first place at leagues with my 200 freestyle relay and also qualifying for states with the same relay, my favorite moments from this season were getting second place as a team at the league meet and also getting 3rd place as a team at Downriver Classic earlier in the season,” Moya said. “Another memory isn't necessarily about swimming, but it was when me and a few of my teammates were in the car with our coaches on the way to Grand Rapids to go to MISCA and we sang High School Musical songs the whole way up.” Her favorite class this year would have to be Forensics with Mr. Danosky. Her favorite teacher this year is probably Mr. Banick. “My favorite subject I would say is Science,” she said. “As of right now I don't really know exactly where I want to go to college but I've been thinking maybe Northern Michigan University. My plans for the future are to go to college and get a degree in some type of Forensic or Criminalistic Science.” Her parents are Wendy and Dominic Moya and she has two sisters, Rosie and Emily Moya. Her hobbies include swimming and napping. “My advice to younger athletes is don't give up on something too soon, try it out for a little bit and get a good idea of what it's all about,” she said. “Because I know in 7th grade when I first started swim I wasn't going to go to the first practice because I really didn't want to do it because I thought I didn't like it, but 4 years later I'm glad I stuck with it because I actually like it!” ![]() By Dave Merchant [email protected] From Cabrini Monarch to Central Michigan Chippewa Michaleigh Vallimont has found a college for a scholarship and softball. He played football and soccer this season. “I am currently in 12th grade at St. Frances Cabrini which I have been at since second grade,” he said. “This fall sports season (2019) I played both Varsity Soccer and Varsity Football, but I also do swim and track in the other seasons. I have played Soccer at Cabrini for 6 years and I was asked this year to play on the football team and assist with the kicking.” “Early on in the season it was really hard to be on both teams because sometimes I practiced 4 hours per day – 2 hours at soccer and then immediately 2 hours at football. However, when I had spare time in my practice and/or game schedules, I would work with the football coaches to improve my football kicking game,” he added. “(As a side note, I played CYO football in 5th and 6th grade, but then I focused on soccer because it was my favorite sport.) My favorite sports moment would be when the Cabrini Varsity soccer team won Catholic league my freshman year.” He was not on varsity yet. “Whenever I could I would go to their practices to get better,” he said. “My personal favorite moment was scoring a field goal at Ford Field in the Catholic league football game that we played there in October. My favorite coach would probably be Mr. LaCroix (Cabrini swim coach) because he has a great mentality and is always pushing me to fulfill my potential. Ms. McGrane (history and psychology teacher), who does not work at Cabrini anymore, is my favorite teacher because of her brilliance and amazing personality. My favorite class is psychology because I learned about the brain and how people think and perceive ideas.” He said he is going to college next fall but he is currently undecided in his major. His hobbies include, basically, any sport you could imagine, listening to music, and hanging with his family. “I listen to lots of different types of music it just depends on how I am feeling. It could be from whatever’s on the radio, to country, rap, R&B, Spanish mix, grime, or just about any other genre.” His parents are Nancy and Mark. He also has four older siblings: Danielle, Elizabeth, Benjamin, and Joseph. “My advice for younger athletes is to be aggressive, to have an elite mentality, and to always have the belief that you can succeed. Being aggressive goes for all sports because it means you will fight for every ball, every challenge, or every second in a race.” “Having an elite mentality means you go out in every game wanting nothing but a win and that you will pour your heart and soul out there to get it. A wise man, named Arsene Wenger, once said “If you do not believe you can do it then you have no chance at all”. If you do not believe in yourself who will? You will not get anywhere in life if you do not have the confidence in yourself to achieve your goal. Other important things people should keep in mind is their diet and recovery time because those are crucial aspects to sports that people neglect,” he stated. “One last tip is if you are ever confused look things up on YouTube because it definitely has taught me many things,” he said. “Thank you for reading and for this opportunity to share my thoughts.” ![]() By Dave Merchant [email protected] The Allen Park Jags have a good volleyball team. When he isn’t running through or around people he is playing just as well in the defensive side. Nico is smart as well. This Jag scholar carries a 4.13 GPA. He loves excelling on the field. “It’s a great honor and I am very proud,” Nico commented. “I work extremely hard to be the best football player I can be. A big part of my success can be attributed to my team and coaches as well.” He also plays basketball for Allen Park. Nico is applying to the University of Michigan, University of Illinois, Purdue University and the University of Wisconsin. “I plan walking on to play football at these schools unless a better offer comes my way,” he said. He has one moment that stands out the most. “My favorite moment would be beating Woodhaven on the road in 2018,” he said. “There was an electric feeling the whole game and the silence of the home crowd when we left the stadium made the moment very memorable.” He loves Math and Calculus. His favorite team moment is “Aggressive!” (Stating Dave Cage and team members will know what that means). “Competing gives me this indescribable feeling of fun and thrill,” he said. “Then the satisfaction of winning fuels your want for success.” His parents are Julie and Tony Tiberia. His sister is Gianna and his brother is Ryan. Nico’s girlfriend is Gwen Ruetz. His hobbies include tennis, golf, skiing and spending time with Gwen. Being a Jag is special. “Carrying on the tradition and pride that the Jags have on the field is the best.” |
